What are macro nutrients and micro nutrients, and how do they differ?

Macro nutrients are the three main sources of calories: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.

These provide our body with the energy it needs to function. Micro nutrients, on the other hand, are smaller molecules that contain essential vitamins and minerals. They can be found in foods like fruits and vegetables, providing us with necessary nutrition without supplying energy (calories) to our bodies.

While both macro and micro nutrients are vital for good health, there are some key differences between them:

• Macro nutrients give us energy while micro nutrients do not;

• Macro nutrients contain fewer amounts of crucial vitamins and minerals compared to micro nutrients;

• Macro nutrient consumption should be tailored to individual goals while micro nutrient consumption must be kept within a certain range for optimal health;

• High levels of macro nutrient consumption can lead to weight gain while high levels of micro nutrient consumption can make up for deficiencies in the diet.

Macro and micro nutrients play two very important roles in nutrition - supplying us with fuel (energy) as well as essential vitamins and minerals. If you want to maintain good overall health, make sure to strike a balance between these two! #FitFreshFoodie #MacrosVsMicros
